What is the GATE Photo & Signature Resizer?
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). During the online registration on the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS), applicant documents are subjected to rigorous automated verification.
Our GATE Photo & Signature Resizer enforces the exact digital imaging standards set by the organizing IIT:
- Passport Photograph: Scaled between **240 × 320 pixels** (minimum) and **480 × 640 pixels** (maximum) with a file size between **5 KB and 200 KB** on a clean white background.
- Candidate Signature: Scaled between **80 × 280 pixels** and **160 × 560 pixels** with a file size between **5 KB and 200 KB** in black or dark blue ink.
- Aspect Ratio Preservation: Prevents vertical squishing or horizontal stretching that causes biometric verification failures.

Top Reasons GATE Applications are Put on Hold
- Colored or Dark Background: GATE requires a pure white background. Photographs with blue, grey, or textured backgrounds will be flagged during scrutiny.
- Shadows or Flash Glare on Face: Ensure uniform lighting across the forehead, nose, and cheeks without harsh shadows under the chin.
- Cropped Signature Strokes: The entire signature must fit comfortably within the crop box without touching the top, bottom, or side borders.
