The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) strictly enforces age criteria for all its examinations, notably the Class I and Class II civil services exams (such as Gujarat Administrative Service, Deputy Superintendent of Police, etc.). Recently, the state government updated the upper age limit to provide more opportunities to aspirants.
As per the latest standards, the base age limit for an Unreserved (General) Male candidate is 20 to 36 years. However, substantial relaxations are provided based on gender, caste category, and physical disability status.
Category-Wise Age Relaxations in GPSC
GPSC provides overlapping age relaxations, meaning female candidates belonging to reserved categories get the benefit of both being a female and being from a reserved category. However, the absolute maximum age for any candidate, under any circumstance, cannot exceed 45 years.

Important Domicile Rule (Other State Candidates)
Candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) from states other than Gujarat are treated strictly as General (Unreserved) candidates.
This means if you are an OBC/SEBC candidate from Rajasthan applying for GPSC, you will not get the +5 years age relaxation, and your maximum age limit will be 36 years (if male) or 41 years (if female).
Ex-Servicemen Age Relaxation
For Ex-Servicemen, Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs, the age relaxation is granted by deducting the length of military service from their actual age. After deduction, the resultant age must not exceed the prescribed maximum age by more than 3 years. However, the absolute cap of 45 years applies to Ex-Servicemen as well.
