What is the APSC CCE Age Limit?
The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) conducts the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) to recruit candidates for premier state government roles, such as Assam Civil Service (ACS), Assam Police Service (APS), and various other allied services.
To ensure fairness and maintain a balanced workforce demographic, the Commission enforces strict age criteria. As per standard APSC rules, a candidate must be a minimum of 21 years of age and must not be older than 38 years of age (for Unreserved/General candidates).
Category-wise Age Relaxations in Assam
The Government of Assam provides age relaxations on the upper age limit to candidates belonging to recognized reserved categories native to the state. These relaxations apply exclusively to candidates who possess a valid caste or category certificate issued by the competent authorities in Assam.

1. Can candidates from outside Assam claim OBC/SC/ST age relaxation?
No. Candidates from states other than Assam are considered strictly under the Unreserved/General category regardless of their caste status in their home state. They must meet the 21-38 years age bracket.
2. What is the maximum age limit for ST Hills (ST-H) in APSC CCE?
Both ST(Plains) and ST(Hills) receive a 5-year age relaxation. Therefore, the maximum age limit is 43 years (38 base + 5 relaxation).
3. Do Ex-Servicemen get age relaxation in APSC?
Yes, Ex-Servicemen receive significant age relaxations. Generally, the upper age limit is relaxable by 10 years (or up to 50 years of age for Unreserved category Ex-Servicemen) subject to specific service conditions.
4. Can I apply if I turn 21 next month?
No. You must be exactly 21 years old as of the crucial date (usually January 1st) of the recruitment year. If your birthday falls after this date, you will have to wait for the next recruitment cycle.
